2026 Steelers Training Camp - Day 10 Recap

The Steelers hit the field at St. Vincent College under gathering clouds, squeezing in a short training camp session before Thursday’s first preseason matchup.

Injury Report

After Saturday evening’s physical practice, the list of injured players was predictably longer than usual. In his press conference, head coach Mike McCarthy announced that first-round tackle Max Iheanachor would not participate in today’s session, with his timetable for return still to be determined.

• Despite this, Iheanachor was later seen in pads taking reps during individual drills.

  
  

• On a similar note, safety Jaquan Brisker, rookie running back Eli Heidenreich, andd offensive lineman Steven Jones took part on some individual drills.

In addition to Iheanachor, receiver Michael Pittman Jr. did not take part in today’s session due to minor injuries sustained during Saturday’s practice.

The Steelers also made several roster moves, waiving receiver Colton Dowell and offensive tackle Lorenzo Thompson due to injury. In their place, the team signed Cornell Powell and Isaiah Winstead.

Others unable to participate include defensive tackle Logan lee and defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day.

Wilson Continues To Improve Against The Run

Linebacker Payton Wilson continues to draw positive reviews for his growth against the run. During this session, he showed clear improvement in stacking and shedding blocks — a promising sign for the overall development of his game.

Nichols Showing Out

Running back Lew Nichols III has rarely been mentioned, despite impressing during last year’s preseason. With him and Kaleb Johnson battling for the RB3 spot, he used the run period to show what he can do. It’s worth noting that his success was largely aided by rookie offensive lineman Gennings Dunker, rookie fullback Riley Nowakowski, and others.

Other mentions:

• Linebacker Jacoby Windmon was credited for a tackle for loss on running back Jaylen Warren and a few run stuffs.
