After a frustrating, injury-plagued 2024 season, Jadyn Ott is ready for a fresh start—and he’s found it in Norman. The former Cal standout transferred to Oklahoma this spring, giving the Sooners a much-needed offensive spark and setting the stage for what could be a star-making 2025 campaign.
Ott burst onto the national scene in 2023 with 1,315 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns, earning All-Pac-12 honors and turning heads with his explosive playmaking. But a nagging ankle injury derailed his 2024 season, limiting him to just 385 rushing yards and one score.
Now healthy, Ott joins an Oklahoma team in transition, potentially making him be the perfect piece at the perfect time.
Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables is entering a pivotal year. After a disappointing 6–7 finish in 2024 and a midseason offensive coordinator change, Venables knew he needed to revamp the offense. Enter Ben Arbuckle, the former Washington State OC known for his high-octane schemes, and John Mateer, a dual-threat quarterback transfer who lit up the Pac-12 last year.
But the biggest splash may have been Ott.
“We just couldn’t pass him up,” Venables said at SEC spring meetings. “He’s got great instincts, he’s a home-run threat, and he brings experience and versatility we desperately need”
Jadyn Ott’s transfer to Oklahoma isn’t just a fresh start—it’s a strategic move that could reignite his career and elevate the Sooners’ offense. If he stays healthy and clicks in Arbuckle’s system, this season could not only see him to form, but become one of the most talked-about players in the nation.
