2025 Steelers Camp Recap - Day 4 Notes

ree

The morning opened with inclement weather, but conditions gradually improved, allowing players to return to the far side of the field at St. Vincent College for another productive workout.

Today's standout storylines include a first-round offensive lineman dealing with an injury, a veteran quarterback rediscovering his rhythm, and a noticeable uptick in physical intensity on the field.

So, Steelers fans, let's go!

Injury Report

Linebacker Jeremiah Moon has been added to the injury list after leaving Day 3 of training camp early with an undisclosed issue.

Tight end Jonnu Smith was a full participant during today’s session, showing increased involvement after limited activity over the first two days.

Running back Cordarrelle Patterson remains sidelined due to an undisclosed injury.

SteelersNow analyst Alan Saunders reported that offensive tackle Broderick Jones received treatment on his right hip during practice, having it taped up before resuming limited participation. Jones was active during the “Seven Shots” drill but ceded his reps in team sessions to backup Dylan Cook.

Lastly, UDFA rookie fullback/tight end DJ Thomas-Jones was carted off the field by trainers after sustaining an injury during the last portion of team drills.

Day 4 Camp Notes -

Rodgers' Redemption Day

After a lackluster performance on Day 3, quarterback Aaron Rodgers responded with authority, delivering his most efficient showing of training camp so far. Rodgers was sharp and consistent throughout the “Seven Shots” drill and team sessions, with very few missed pass attempts—a promising sign as the team inches closer to padded practices.

Roc Taylor Make His Presence Felt

One name that’s flown under the radar during training camp is undrafted rookie wide receiver Roc Taylor. That changed today when Taylor made his presence known with a first-down reception from Mason Rudolph during team drills—his first notable contribution of camp. Rudolph would find him again for the 15-yard gain during 7-vs-7s, then again by rookie quarterback Will Howard inside.

Dylan Cook Making The Most of His Reps

With Broderick Jones sidelined, Dylan Cook seized the opportunity to take reps as the first-team left tackle. He made the most of his snaps during the opening portion of practice, holding his ground and not surrendering a single quarterback pressure—a strong showing for the backup lineman stepping into a lead role.

Holcomb and McCollum Get Acquainted

Despite the absence of pads, Day 4 of training camp was marked by a noticeable physical edge. That competitive tone was embodied by linebacker Cole Holcomb and center Ryan McCollum, who brought energy and grit during team sessions—setting the tone for what padded practices might bring.
