Washington Could Become The Steelers X-factor on Offense

In two days at this year's rookie minicamp, tight end Darnell Washington has already made quite an impression in front of coaches.

As a self-professed "quick learner", Washington's ability to pick up the playbook quickly could translate into him becoming more than just a blocking tight end in his rookie season.

Last season with the Georgia Bulldogs, Washington set career highs in receptions with 28, receiving yards with 454, and touchdowns with two. Considering he was able to produce while playing behind college football's premier tight end, Brock Bowers, speaks volumes of his offensive potential.

At 6'7, 260 lbs+, the expectation for him will likely be as a blocking tight end. Yet, as he continues to get acclimated to all aspects of the game, one should expect Washington's role to expand to that of a regular contributor and help expand the offense in a major way this upcoming season.
