Steelers Take Penn State QB In Latest 2026 Mock Draft For Pro Football Network

The 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh has all the makings of a signature moment for the Steelers franchise—an opportunity to identify their true franchise quarterback.

With Aaron Rodgers committed to the team for the 2025 season, this year will likely mark the final chapter of his storied NFL career. Despite the presence of Mason Rudolph and rookie Will Howard on the roster, the organization may look to the upcoming quarterback class to secure a long-term leader for the future.

NFL analyst Brentley Weissman revealed his latest mock draft for Pro Football Network, projecting the Pittsburgh Steelers to select Penn State quarterback Drew Allar with the 19th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. While Allar remains a work-in-progress, there is no denying that his physical tools make him the type of quarterback worthy of first-round consideration, as Weissman noted in his analysis.

"Drew Allar is a strong bet to be drafted in the first round and could go as high as the top three with a strong year. While many draft analysts question Allar, he is a high upside prospect who has all the potential in the world. With his arm talent, athleticism and size, NFL teams will covet him."

Even so, the possibility of the team moving forward with either Mason Rudolph or Will Howard under center should not be dismissed. However, if Drew Allar delivers a standout season and leads the Nittany Lions on a deep playoff run, it could significantly elevate his draft stock—potentially placing him well beyond the Steelers’ reach.
