Steelers Select Sun Devil Standout Receivers in CBS Sports Mock Draft

If the Pittsburgh Steelers learned anything from their Week 17 loss to the Cleveland Browns, it’s that they are in urgent need of playmaking receivers on their roster.

Throughout much of the season, the team has lacked a dynamic receiver capable of complementing DK Metcalf. His current suspension has further exposed the fragile state of their receiving corps. Fortunately for Pittsburgh, the projected 2026 receiver class appears to offer a wide range of talent that could help strengthen the unit.

In his latest mock draft for CBS Sports, draft analyst Ryan Wilson projects the Steelers selecting Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson with the 20th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Notably, Wilson has their division rivals, the Cleveland Browns, taking Ohio State receiver Carnell Tate with the sixth overall pick.

Even so, Tyson is far from a consolation prize. Standing at 6'2", he was among the nation’s top playmakers. With his combination of size, speed, and an expansive route tree, Wilson views him as the type of receiver the Steelers desperately need.

"Tyson is an explosive receiver with the size, speed and catch radius to win at all three levels. A smooth hands-catcher, he consistently makes contested and high-point grabs look effortless while creating surprising separation at the top of his routes for his size."

With the likelihood that veterans Adam Thielen and Marquez Valdes‑Scantling will depart at the conclusion of the season, the team should strongly consider giving the receiver position the same level of attention they have devoted to both the offensive and defensive lines in recent drafts.

Despite appearing in only nine games this past season, Tyson recorded 711 yards on 61 receptions and scored nine total touchdowns. Over the course of his collegiate career, he amassed 158 receptions for 2,283 yards and 23 touchdowns.
