Steelers Present At Georgia Pro Day

As expected, a large contingent of NFL scouts, including representatives from the Pittsburgh Steelers, attended Georgia Pro Day in Athens. Among those present for the Steelers was head coach Mike Tomlin, whose daughter, Harley Tomlin, is a gymnast at the school. Notably absent were general manager Omar Khan and assistant general manager Andy Weidl.

With much of the focus at various pre-Draft events on bolstering the interior of their defensive line, three standout players took center stage: Nazir Stackhouse, Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, and Warren Brinson. These defensive tackles, who impressed at this year's NFL Combine, were active participants in the field events.

The player who turned heads was safety Dan Jackson, clocking a sub-4.4 in the 40-yard dash. He followed it up with a 34-inch vertical jump and a 10'3" broad jump. While there were no reports of the team meeting with him prior to his Pro Day, he certainly made an impression on one of the Steelers scouts in attendance.

One Bulldog with a direct connection to the Steelers was edge rusher Mykel Williams, who had dinner with Tomlin prior to the event. On the field, Williams clocked 4.73 and 4.81 in the 40-yard dash, though there was some variance in the times. Given his projection as a top 10-15 pick in the upcoming draft, it was a disappointing showing.
