Steelers Picked As A Landing Spot For Milton III

As the Pittsburgh Steelers continue their waiting game for Aaron Rodgers, one quarterback option has been circulating recently: New England's Joe Milton III.

Though Milton III's body of work is limited, he has shown potential with his athleticism, arm strength, and accuracy. Before the start of free agency, many suggested the Steelers trade for Milton III, with the hope that he could eventually become their franchise quarterback.

NFL analyst Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports believes Pittsburgh is an ideal spot for Milton III. In his latest piece, he lists the Steelers as one of five teams to which New England might trade their sixth-round pick, as they are fully committed to last year's first-round pick, Derek Maye, being their full-time starter this upcoming season and beyond. Sullivan sees this as a potential low-risk, high-reward acquisition for the team.

"Even if they added another veteran to the room, Milton could be a low-risk acquisition to come in and compete for the starting job over the summer. Given his ability to throw the football a country mile, he'd be fascinating to see with DK Metcalf and George Pickens at his disposal."

Currently, the Steelers have only one true quarterback on their roster, Mason Rudolph, whom they signed last week. The team is likely to explore the option of drafting a quarterback in the upcoming draft after hosting Louisville's Tyler Shough for a pre-draft visit and dining with Alabama's Jalen Milroe prior to his Pro Day yesterday. Reports have speculated that New England's asking price for Milton III would be a third-round pick. Considering the Steelers have only six picks in the upcoming draft, they may not be willing to spend high draft capital on a sixth-round player, even one with Milton III's skillset.

Despite this, the team has limited options at the quarterback position, making the idea of acquiring Milton III a viable one.
