The Pittsburgh Steelers dedicated much of the offseason to strengthening their defensive line, culminating in the selection of two additional players in this year’s NFL Draft. Despite these efforts, their most significant roster upgrade may, arguably, have come on the offensive side of the ball.

In his latest piece for CBS Sports, Tyler Sullivan highlighted a reason for optimism for every NFL team. Regarding the Pittsburgh Steelers, he pointed to the acquisition of Pro Bowl receiver DK Metcalf as a key factor in their bright outlook for the upcoming season. Sullivan also suggested that Metcalf’s pairing with talented wide receiver George Pickens and tight end Pat Freiermuth could create a dynamic offensive unit—contingent on who lines up under center.

"At long last, they finally landed their big fish, executing a blockbuster trade with the Seattle Seahawks for two-time Pro Bowl receiver DK Metcalf, whom they then inked to a $150 million extension. With Metcalf now inserted into the offense, the skill position group is ready to take a step forward with George Pickens and Pat Freiermuth already established. Now, they just need a quarterback ... "

Currently, the Pittsburgh Steelers have three quarterbacks on their roster: Skylar Thompson, Mason Rudolph, and rookie Will Howard from Ohio State. Meanwhile, the status of Aaron Rodgers remains uncertain, though speculation continues to swirl that he may eventually sign with the team.

Regardless of Aaron Rodgers' status, the Steelers appear to have a promising unit, bolstered by the addition of running back Kaleb Johnson and a young, emerging offensive line. With the right quarterback leading the charge, the team has the potential to put together a successful 2025 season.
