What began as a promising contest in the first half quickly unraveled in the second, as the Pittsburgh Steelers surrendered 28 points and ultimately fell to the Green Bay Packers by a final score of 35–25.
For the second consecutive game, the Steelers’ defense failed to record a single sack or interception, while allowing the Packers to rack up over 400 yards of total offense. Although the defensive unit struggled, the Steelers’ offense did its best to keep the team competitive, managing to generate some respectable production. One particular player saw his fantasy value increase and it's not who you think.
Offensive Fantasy Moves
Aaron Rodgers (QB, Steelers) - Despite a few rough patches, Aaron Rodgers delivered a solid performance, completing 24 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns. At 40 years old, Rodgers continues to play at a respectable level. His Week 7 showing bumps him up two spots to QB14, now sitting at 117.4 fantasy points.
Jaylen Warren (RB, Steelers) - Jaylen Warren had a moderately active outing, rushing for 62 yards and adding 11 receiving yards. His consistent usage keeps him steady at RB24, with 81.8 fantasy points on the season.
Roman Wilson (WR, Steelers) - One of the surprise standouts for the Steelers was second-year wideout Roman Wilson. After limited action in the first four games, Wilson saw increased snaps due to Calvin Austin III’s shoulder injury. He capitalized with a career-best performance: 74 receiving yards on 4 catches, including a late-game touchdown. While Wilson didn’t crack the top 100 this week, he’s a name to monitor for deeper fantasy leagues.
📉D.K. Metcalf (WR, Steelers) - D.K. Metcalf posted a modest stat line with 55 receiving yards and a first-half touchdown. Still, his fantasy stock surged, climbing 25 spots to WR17, now totaling 103.1 fantasy points.
📈 Other Notable Offensive Movers
Player | Position | Week 7 Movement | Fantasy Points | Week 7 Performance Summary |
Kenneth Gainwell | RB | ⬇️ Down 20 spots to RB34 | 69.5 | Just 34 total yards vs. Packers |
Pat Freiermuth | TE | ⬇️ Down 1 spot to TE28 | 48.0 | Quiet follow-up after a big Week 7 |
Calvin Austin III | WR | ⬇️ Down to WR74 | 42.7 | Returned with 28 yards on 4 receptions |
Defensive Fantasy Movers
Payton Wilson (LB, Steelers) - One of the few bright spots on the Steelers' defense Sunday was second-year linebacker Payton Wilson. While positives were limited, the team did show resilience against the run. Wilson contributed significantly to that effort, recording nine total tackles.
After dropping four spots in the rankings last week, he rebounded impressively—climbing 17 places to reach LB41 with 52.3 fantasy points.
T.J. Watt (EDGE, Steelers) - On the opposite end of the spectrum is All-Pro linebacker T.J. Watt. Following strong performances in Weeks 4 and 6, Watt was held in check for the second consecutive game, recording no sacks or signature splash plays.
He finished the contest with just six tackles and one quarterback hit, resulting in a four-spot drop to LB26 with 59.7 fantasy points. Despite this current slump, fantasy managers should remain optimistic—Watt is likely to bounce back in a significant way.
