2025 Steelers Camp Recap - Day 9 Notes

ree

Following an eventful Friday Night Lights session, an unexpectedly large number of Steelers fans gathered at St. Vincent College to watch the team perform on the field.

With a long list of veteran players taking the day off, this was a prime opportunity for fans to witness the true strength and potential of the team's roster depth.

So, Steelers fans, let's go!

Injury Report

Prior to today’s practice, the team announced that defensive tackle Dean Lowry has been placed on the Reserve/Injured List after sustaining a lower-body injury during Day 7 of training camp. In a corresponding move, the team re-signed defensive tackle Breiden Fehoko to fill the vacant roster spot.

New additions to the injured list include cornerback Cory Trice Jr. (hamstring), offensive tackle Calvin Anderson (lower-body injury), and cornerback Joey Porter Jr., whose injury has not yet been disclosed.

Defense Dominates "Seven Shots"

With Aaron Rodgers sidelined, the offense struggled to generate points against the reserve defense, ultimately falling 5–2 in the “Seven Shots” drill.

Pierre Collecting Interceptions

One player who clearly benefited from the absence of veteran starters was cornerback James Pierre. During one-on-one drills, Pierre recorded two interceptions—one against Mason Rudolph and another against rookie Will Howard. Combined with the interception he notched during Friday’s practice, Pierre now has three interceptions in camp.

Rookie Howard Showing Out

Another beneficiary of Rodgers’ absence was rookie quarterback Will Howard. From the “Seven Shots” drill to full-team sessions, Howard consistently made plays in a variety of ways. To say the least, he was on fire during Day 9 of camp.

ROC Making Highlight Plays

One name that has been trending in a big way over the past few days is Memphis wide receiver Roc Taylor. For whatever reason, when the ball comes his way, he consistently finds a way to make a play. Today’s one-on-one session was no exception—Taylor made several impressive receptions, including one that was unfortunately called back.
