Week 1 Fantasy Football Recap: The Steelers Defense Hits It Big In Week 1






Third-year linebacker Alex Highsmith had the best performance of his career last Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, registering three sacks and earning 32.3 points, according to Fantasypros.com. Teammate and All-Pro linebacker TJ Watt finished third among linebackers with 28.5 fantasy points.


Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick had a performance for the ages in Week 1 against the Bengals, which included 14 tackles, an interception returned for a touchdown, and a blocked field goal at the end of regulation. His efforts last week translated extremely well, as he registered 30.5 fantasy points.


Along the defensive line, veteran Cam Heyward earned a respectable 13.5 fantasy points, placing him 14th among players at his position.


Steelers special teams also made money in Week 1. Sitting fourth overall among kickers in Week 1 with 14 fantasy points was kicker Chris Boswell, who registered 11 total points, including the game winner later in overtime.


On offense, quarterback Mitch Trubisky led the way with 12.5 fantasy points. Despite having a questionable first half, Trubisky finished Week 1 with 21 completions for 194 passing yards and a touchdown. Next to him was running back Najee Harris, with 8.6 fantasy points, who registered a touchdown, and tight end Pat Freiermuth, who finished with 7.5 fantasy points after registering 75 receiving yards on five receptions.
