Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren is a name that has been trending since his preseason performance last week, in which he registered a 62-yard touchdown run against the Buffalo Bills starting defense.
One writer that is in this camp is Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports, who had Warren listed as one of the "under-the-radar" players who carry star potential in the AFC.
In his analysis, Sullivan lauded Warren for his abilities as a runner and pass-catcher while noting the idea of Warren seeing an increase in carries to help support the team's starting running back, Najee Harris.
"Jaylen Warren was one of the bigger surprises for the Steelers in 2022 after signing as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma State. While Najee Harris will continue to be the lead back and get the lion's share of the touches, Warren should see some more work as the No. 2 on the depth chart, especially after a solid showing as a rookie where he averaged 5.6 yards per touch. Warren averaged 6.5 touches last season."
After his showing last week against the Bills, many fans have suggested that Warren is the Steelers true No. 1 running back as he posted a more positive RYOE (Rushing Yards Over Expected) than Harris last season. Even with this, Harris has posted two consecutive 1000-yard rushing seasons and has proven to be the right back to carry the greater load for the Steelers offense.
As for Warren, he has blossomed into an integral part of the Steelers offense and is destined for big things this upcoming season.
