Steelers Receive A Versatile UDFA In Kevin Jobity Jr.

The addition of Syracuse defensive tackle Kevin Jobity Jr. to the Pittsburgh Steelers roster comes with a touch of irony: the best performance of his career came against the very school in the city that just signed him.

In the Orangemen’s Week 7 loss to the Panthers last season, Jobity delivered a breakout game with three sacks and six tackles. That season ultimately became his peak, as he set career highs with five sacks, six tackles for loss, and a pass deflection.

Across 38 collegiate games, Jobity’s versatility allowed him to line up at multiple spots along the line of scrimmage, with most of his snaps coming at defensive tackle and defensive end.

His arrival fits the Steelers’ long‑standing preference for defensive linemen who blend size and mobility. At 6‑4 and nearly 300 pounds, he brings enough strength to anchor inside while flashing the burst and hand quickness that showed up so clearly in his standout performance against Pitt. His ability to play anywhere from interior tackle to a 5‑technique gives Pittsburgh another flexible rotational piece as they continue reshaping their defensive front.

As is often the case for an undrafted player, the climb ahead is steep — even earning a spot on the practice squad will require a mountain of work.
