Chris Boswell has long been regarded as one of the most efficient and reliable kickers in the NFL, and among the greatest in Pittsburgh Steelers history.

In the 2024 season, Boswell led the team with 158 points, bringing his career total with the Steelers to 1,127. He now ranks second on the franchise’s all-time scoring list, trailing only former kicker Gary Anderson, who holds the record with 1,343 points. Boswell needs just 216 more points to become the Steelers’ all-time leading scorer. However, given that last season marked a career high in points, he may require more than one season to surpass Anderson’s mark.

What makes this pursuit especially compelling is Boswell’s remarkable consistency. Despite injuries in 2018 and 2022, he has maintained one of the highest field goal percentages in NFL history. In 2024, he ranked second in the league with a 93.2% field goal success rate and was perfect on extra points, converting 100% of his attempts. Notably, in Week 1 against Atlanta and Week 11 against Baltimore, Boswell accounted for all of the team’s points in victories.

If Boswell remains healthy and continues at his current pace, it’s not a question of if he will break the record, but when. And when that moment arrives, it will stand as a testament not only to his leg, but to his longevity, resilience, and quiet excellence.
