Steelers Completely Collapse In Loss Over The Bills

ree

Perhaps this marks rock bottom for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In a pivotal game with the opportunity to seize control of the AFC North, the Steelers unraveled in the third quarter and suffered an embarrassing 23‑7 loss to the Buffalo Bills. The defeat dropped Pittsburgh to 6‑6, underscoring what has been a disappointing season through 12 games.

Game Recap -

With the Steelers struggling to establish the run on offense and contain it on defense, the outlook appeared bleak early in the contest. By the end of the first quarter, Pittsburgh had managed just 30 total yards of offense.

In the second quarter, the Steelers’ defense delivered their second takeaway of the game, as linebacker Nick Herbig forced a fumble that was recovered by teammate Patrick Queen. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the offense capitalized with a six-play drive, capped by a Jaylen Warren touchdown run, giving them a 7-0 lead.

For the remainder of the quarter, the Bills controlled possession for more than seven minutes, orchestrating a 16‑play drive that culminated in a Matt Prater field goal, trimming the Steelers’ lead to four heading into halftime.

On the Steelers first offensive possession of the third quarter, disaster struck in the form of a sack fumble by Bills linebacker Nick Bosa, which would be scooped up by Christian Benford for a 17-yard defensive touchdown. The point after would give them a three point lead to begin the half.

On the ensuing possession, backup quarterback Mason Rudolph was promptly intercepted, ending the Steelers’ drive. The Bills quickly capitalized with an eight‑play, 71‑yard march, capped by a Keon Coleman touchdown. A missed extra point left Buffalo with a 16‑7 advantage midway through the third quarter.

By the fourth quarter, the Bills sustained a 15‑play, 83‑yard drive, finishing with a rushing touchdown from quarterback Josh Allen to extend their lead to 23‑7.

The Steelers pieced together a promising offensive drive, but came up short at the Bills’ goal line, turning the ball over on downs.

The Bills put the final nail in the coffin with a late fourth‑quarter field goal, extending their lead to 26‑7.

Lowest Point Of the Season?

To put the performance into perspective, the Bills’ offense gashed the Steelers’ defense for 249 rushing yards, while Pittsburgh managed just 163 total yards of offense for the entire game.

On the injury front, Patrick Queen would leave the game in the first half with a leg injury and wouldn't return. Aaron Rodgers would return in the game after falling hard on his wrist from Bosa's sack. Late in the game, linebacker T.J Watt

would leave the field

Compounding their struggles on both sides of the ball, the Steelers’ lack of discipline was evident in five penalties, most of them for unnecessary roughness. With a matchup against the Baltimore Ravens looming next week, Pittsburgh faces far more pressing issues than just the product on the field.
