Okorafor Has Been Better Than Expected The Season

For all that has been said about veteran right tackle Chukwuma Okorafor this season, what should be acknowledged is that he has been winning more battles than many would have assumed.

Currently, Okorafor ranks 19th among tackles in pass-block win rate at 90%, slightly above All-Pro tackle Trent Williams.

Even though it may not look pretty on tape, Okorafor has been an effective pass blocker on the right side. In their win on Sunday against the Rams, Okorafor posted an overall grade of 77.2 according to Pro Football Focus and impressed with his run blocking, in which he received a grade of 74.5 in that aspect.

Similar to last season, the Steelers offensive line is trending in the right direction at the right time. For Okorafor, his key to success will be limiting his holding penalties, of which he leads the team with six. Yet, he is seemingly trending in the right direction in the last two games, which bodes well for their pivotal matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
