Is Anthony Richarson 'Destined' For The Steelers in 2026?

After a prolonged wait, the Pittsburgh Steelers have successfully added veteran and future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers to their roster on a one-year deal. Despite securing this agreement, the Steelers still face uncertainties regarding their long-term strategy at the position.

Looking ahead to 2026, several promising options will emerge, thanks to an upcoming quarterback class that is expected to feature standout names such as Drew Allar from Penn State and LaNorris Sellers from South Carolina. Another option worth considering is the possibility of trading for a quarterback—specifically, a player from the Indianapolis Colts who has struggled to reach his full potential.

During a segment of ESPN's flagship show, NFL Live, analyst Kevin Clark suggested that Richardson might benefit from a fresh start elsewhere. He proposed this idea in light of the potential for Daniel Jones to become the Colts' starting quarterback for the upcoming season.

"I've never seen anyone more destined to be in the 2026 Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback competition than Anthony Richardson."

Another important factor to consider is that the team has already committed to Mason Rudolph on a two-year deal and selected rookie quarterback Will Howard in this year's draft. Although Richardson remains an unfinished product with limited NFL experience, Clark views him as having a higher ceiling than both Rudolph and Howard due to his exceptional athletic abilities.
