One of the more notable observations during today's Steelers OTAs was tight end Darnell Washington's new physical condition.

According to reports, Washington confirmed that he has trimmed down by 10-15 pounds during the off-season and is currently at his playing weight from his days with the Georgia Bulldogs.

When asked, Washington explained about his new mindset to training coming into his third year in the league.

"Just improve year by year because after your third year is your fourth year — then everybody want a new contract. That's how I want to attack it, and just be the best version of myself."

Last season, Darnell Washington set career highs with 200 receiving yards on 19 receptions, including one touchdown, while averaging 10.5 yards per reception. With confirmation of their decision to move on from Pro Bowl tight end Jonnu Smith, this could indicate plans to expand Washington's role on offense. Given that Arthur Smith's offense heavily relies on running back and tight end play, this could signal a significant season ahead for Washington.

Free Agent WR Gabriel Davis Set To Visit Pittsburgh

As reported this morning by ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter, former Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Gabe Davis is scheduled to meet with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday, with the possibility of joining their roster. Last season, Davis struggled with injuries and recorded a career-low 239 receiving yards on 20 receptions, along with two touchdowns. Throughout his career, Davis has accumulated 183 receptions for 2,969 yards and 29 touchdowns.
