2025 Steelers Camp Preview - It's Time for Dylan Cook to Make an Impression

It has been nearly two seasons since offensive tackle Dylan Cook secured a spot on the Pittsburgh Steelers' roster. Rather than witnessing a steady ascent in his career, he has unfortunately encountered a number of setbacks.

After making the team in 2023, Cook has yet to appear in an official NFL game. Last season, he was placed on injured reserve in August, subsequently released in October, and re-signed to the practice squad the following month. In effect, much of Cook's tenure with the Steelers has been spent on the sidelines in one form or another.

With the departure of Dan Moore Jr. in free agency, the upcoming season may present Cook with the long-awaited opportunity he has sought since joining the team in 2022. He is expected to compete with last year’s first-round draft pick, Troy Fautanu, for the starting right tackle position. It is worth noting that Cook brings valuable positional versatility, with the ability to play at left tackle as well as both guard positions.

Cook himself acknowledged the disappointment of last season in a candid Instagram post but also hinted at his determination to bounce back. If he can recapture the promise he showed in 2023, he could finally break through. If not, this may be his last chance to stick in the NFL—at least with the Steelers.
