2024 Steelers Week 10 Fantasy Football Recap - The Rise of Cam Heyward Continues

Updated: Nov 18

All Stats Courtesy Of: Fantasydata.com

The Pittsburgh Steelers came back from their bye week and pulled off a dramatic win over the Washington Commanders on Monday.

In the world of fantasy football this week, their success did not quite reflect in their overall value. (Note: These stats are post-bye week. Player value is likely to increase after Week 11).

- Offense -

The Steelers' comeback win was engineered by veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, who has elevated the offense, averaging over 30 points per game in their last three contests. Though he had his fair share of struggles against the Commanders' defense, he still registered three passing touchdowns, including the game-winner to receiver Mike Williams. For his efforts, Wilson moved up two spots to No. 33 among quarterbacks with 56.8 fantasy points. Speaking of Williams, he only had one reception against the Commanders, but it was one of the biggest of the season. He is currently ranked No. 95 among wide receivers with 38.8 fantasy points.

When we talk about playmaking receivers, George Pickens should always be mentioned. Pickens left his mark against the Commanders in multiple ways, playing a big role in their win. After finishing with five receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown, Pickens moved up two spots to No. 19 for players at his position with 113.3 fantasy points. As for Calvin Austin III, he moved down eight spots to No. 77 after registering 20 yards on just two receptions.

Tight end Pat Freiermuth has been an interesting story this season. Despite a noticeable decrease in targets, he's proven to be extremely reliable when given the opportunity. In their win on Sunday over the Commanders, he registered 17 yards on three receptions and his third touchdown of the season. For this week, Freiermuth moved down to No. 16 among tight ends with 73.1 fantasy points.

On the ground, running back Najee Harris also registered his third touchdown of the season, along with 53 rushing yards. Despite an earnest effort against the Commanders, he moved down to No. 24 among running backs with 114.7 fantasy points. Backup Jaylen Warren played a vital role on the ground when Harris was out of the game briefly with an injury. After registering 95 total yards (66 rushing, 20 receiving), Warren moved to the 58th spot among running backs with 43.3 fantasy points.

- Defense -

The biggest story on defense this week was veteran defensive lineman Cameron Heyward. Despite being in his 14th season, Heyward has played some of the best football of his career. Against the Commanders, he was as disruptive as one can be, finishing with two sacks, quarterback hits, and a pass deflection. Even with this performance, Heyward didn't move up or down the charts and remains at No. 13 among defensive linemen with 65.0 fantasy points. Another standout on the interior was Keeanu Benton, who finished with a tackle and a pass deflection. This week, he is featured at the 99th spot among defensive linemen with 27.5 fantasy points.

On the edges, All-Pro linebacker T.J. Watt didn't register any sacks but contributed with two quarterback hits and a pass deflection. Two weeks ago, Watt held the No. 1 spot among linebackers. This week, however, he moved down to No. 6 with 94.0 fantasy points. On the other side, Alex Highsmith recorded only one quarterback hit on Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels. He moved down eight spots to No. 92 with 37.6 fantasy points.

Arguably the biggest standout at linebacker for the Steelers this week was Patrick Queen, who finished with seven total tackles, two of them for a loss, and a pass deflection. For his efforts, he moved up to No. 57 among linebackers with 55.5 fantasy points.

In the secondary, safety DeShon Elliott continues to prove why he was arguably the Steelers' best acquisition this offseason. Against the Commanders, he registered six total tackles, two of them for a loss. Two weeks ago, Elliott was listed at No. 9. This week, he is listed at No. 12 among defensive backs with 70.0 fantasy points. All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, who finished with just four tackles, currently sits at No. 75 among defensive backs with 46.5 fantasy points.
