During his career with BYU, defensive back Chris Wilcox was not known for his production, but his athletic attributes made him a unique specimen.

At 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, Wilcox's size and length give him a presence on the field. Yet his athleticism was the aspect that compelled the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to select him with the 251st overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

During his Pro Day, Wilcox put together elite-level numbers: 4.31 in the 40-yard dash (4.38-second 40-yard dash) and a 37.5-inch vertical jump. His overall grade of 82.2% placed him among the top defensive backs available in his draft class.

With his ideal size and length, Wilcox is a natural at playing press-man coverage. Though he is still a raw prospect, this year's training camp gives him the opportunity to refine his skills under secondary coach Grady Brown, as well as absorbing knowledge from veteran and future Hall of Famer Patrick

Peterson.

Special teams is the likely route for Wilcox to make the roster at this point. Even with this, it could eventually turn into an opportunity to prove that his athleticism could translate into production on the field.
