Player Description

Name: Darnell Wright Position: Offensive line

College: Tennessee Uniform Number: #58

Class: Senior Height: 6-5

Weight: 333 lbs Projected Round: Mid 1st to Early 2nd

Strengths:

  • Underrated athleticism

  • High football IQ

  • Plays with great stability and balance

  • Proficient pass blocker

  • Natural at anchoring

  • Quick, light feet

  • Outstanding kick step out of stance

  • Fluid hips (lateral movement)

  • Adequate knee bend

  • Uses the snatch and trap technique effectively

  • Excellent mobility for his size (1.81s 10-yard split in the Combine)

  • Overwhelms opponents with his strength and physicality

  • Violent and active hands

  • Rarely fooled on stunts

Weaknesses:

Wright's kick step is excellent coming out of his stance, yet he has the tendency to stand too upright almost every time. This affects his coordination when facing speed rushers, which results in him losing his balance at times. Needs to do a better job bending at the knees, as he tends to bend at the waist, resulting in some loss of leverage when blocking. Wright needs to increase his overall awareness of stunts, as he has been beaten in these types of situations. With some athletic limitations, there is the possibility of inconsistent performances against more seasoned pass rushers at the next level. In these cases, he may need some protection from time to time.
