Weaknesses:
The most noticeable weakness for Joey Porter is at the line of scrimmage in press coverage. Often, he fails to establish a jam at the line, which results in opposing receivers beating him on the initial release. In extension, he is susceptible to getting beat underneath or on crossing routes. This could be indicative of questionable short-area speed. As a tackler, Porter Jr. needs to do a better job viewing his target and lowering his shoulders when engaging. When playing on the outside, he sometimes gets lost in coverage due to struggles when transitioning out of his backpedal. Can be overly aggressive with his hands throughout the stem of a route, leading to unnecessary penalties in certain situations.
