Tomlin also acknowledged the objective of putting together a squad with a tough and physical mindset.

"We work our tails off to compete but keep it professional. We acknowledge sometimes tempers are going to flare & those things are going to happen. We are putting together a rough-&-tumble football group, not a MMA squad."

Steelers Initial Depth Chart Released

Following today's session, the Steelers released their 2021 initial depth chart heading into the Hall of Fame Game against the Dallas Cowboys on August 5. At running back, rookie Najee Harris is listed as the starter with Benny Snell Jr. as his backup. At quarterback, Mason Rudolph is listed as the team's backup behind Ben Roethlisberger, with Dwayne Haskins as the third quarterback.

The biggest surprise is at the center position, where B.J Finney is listed ahead of rookie Kendrick Green, who has so far taking most of the snaps with the first team. One should expect this chart to change before the team's first regular-season game, against the Buffalo Bills on September 12.
