  • Elite level closing speed and acceleration

  • Versatile - able to play both 3-tech and 5-tech

  • Excellent gap awareness

  • Consistently sets the edge

  • Desirable flexibility and bend

  • Capable of getting 'skinny' with his inside pass rusher (view photo)

  • Active playmaker in the the backfield

  • Stays low and finishes his tackles.

Weaknesses:

Coming out of his stance from the edge, Rousseau is not overly explosive, and has a tendency of standing too upright, rather establishing a lower pad level. In this respect, he is not always able to establish the base needed to bend, which is one of his strengths. As an overall pass rusher, he is not technically refined and does not possess a wide variety of pass rush moves. His lean, athletic frame could prove to be problematic against bigger, more physical offensive linemen. To counter this, Rousseau needs to dedicate himself to increasing his lower body strength, in order to win more one-on-one battles.
