Player Description:

Name: Tyler Johnson

Position: Wide Receiver

College: Minnesota

Uniform Number: #6

Class: Senior

Height: 6'2

Weight: 205 lbs

Strengths:

Johnson is a crafty and methodical route runner, who does an excellent job planning his attack before releasing off the line. In addition to possessing great body control, he is highly instinctive, and is adept to sensing an oncoming defender. His ability to gain substantial yards after a catch derives from his well-groomed instincts. Can play outside, in the slot, yet does his best work at the 'z' spot. Able to create separation by using a variety of single or double moves when stemming. Quick and sharp when breaking into his routes, especially on this inside with slants; very difficult to cover in this regard. Possesses excellent hands and ball skills, with very few drops.

Weaknesses:

On the outside, Johnson lacks the speed and physicality to get the separation needed to win deep. Lacks the physicality needed to be an effective blocker, more emphasis on locating and sustaining blocks is necessary. His catch radius is decent, but at 6'2 with desirable athletic attributes, it should be much better. Whether he plays at 'z' or outside, he will need to get stronger in order to contend against bigger, physical corners at the next level.
