Strengths:


Athletic, quick-twitched running back with elite-level speed. Able to increase speed when he reaches the second level, explosive when running through an open gap. Possesses excellent stop-and-start speed, which enables him to find openings within a defense. Dobbins is most dangerous when he takes the edge, where he is the most productive. Despite his size, Dobbins is a physical running back, able to run downhill and willing to take physical contact. As a pass blocker, he shows reasonable pad level and has improved in sustaining blocks. Dobbins' versatility allows him to be lined up in the backfield or outside as a receiver. Though he has not had as many opportunities as a receiver, Dobbins has shown a natural ability to make receptions.



Weaknesses:


Can be indecisive at time when finding a gap to run through; his hesitation in the aspect, has resulted in him being stopped in the backfield. His tendency is to run towards the, which at can make him predictable for opposing defenses. His persistence in gaining yards after contact, makes him vulnerable to taking too much contact, which could affect his longevity. His strength has improved his since his freshman year, but his durability is still a concern.
