Player Description:

Name: Ben Bredeson

Position: Offensive Guard

College: Michigan

Uniform Number: #74

Class: Senior

Height: 6'5

Weight: 325 lbs

Strengths:

Bredeson is a rugged, refined guard with good spatial awareness. He is adept at picking up blitzes and is rarely fooled on stunts. One of his main attributes is his physicality; when coming out of his stance, he is good at getting an initial jam against opposing lineman, and using his raw power to push them back. Thrives on play in a phone booth, he is excellent at keeping his shoulders square and moving his feet. On pass sets, Bredeson does a good job staying balanced while maintaining good posture to sustain blocks. Brings experience to the table, as he played in 50 career games with 46 starts; thus he has seen much of everything an offensive lineman can see.

Weaknesses:

A continuing concern with Bredeson has been his pad level. His initial move out of his stance is by standing up, which has resulted him being caught off balance every so often. His mobility in general is limited either moving forward or laterally. On counters, he has difficulty locating opposing defenders, and redirecting them in open space. His hand placement has improved in small increments, yet Bredeson still has difficulty getting the hands inside or underneath an opposing lineman's shoulder pads.
