Player Description:

Name: Derrick Brown

Position: Defensive Tackle

College: Auburn

Uniform Number: #5

Class: Senior

Height: 6'5

Weight: 326 lbs

Brown is a massive specimen, who possesses a unique combination of agility, quickness, and raw power. One his greatest attributes is his ability to drop anchor against double teams, using his size and strength. Coming out of his stance, Brown has exceptional short-area explosiveness and leverage to win one-on-one battles. Consistently gets penetration playing at 0 or 1 tech, when Brown powers into gaps, he is nearly impossible to stop. Uses hands effectively to stack and shed opposing linemen, for the purpose of penetrating gaps. Brown's range is strong considering his size, as he possesses the motor to chase down plays either in the backfield or second level.

Brown is very much a pass rusher than a sack artist. Though he gets penetration, he has a tendency of not finishing the player; overall, he is still a work in progress in this area. As effective as he is playing at 0 or 1 tech, he is slightly vulnerable playing at 2 or 3 tech. In these situations, his limitations in mobility are exposed, and he is not as consistent playing with the leverage he would need to win the one-on-one battles.
