Player Description:

Name: Yetur Gross-Matos

Position: Defensive End

College: Penn State

Uniform Number: #90

Class: Junior

Height: 6'5

Weight: 266 lbs

Strengths:

Gross-Matos is a long, athletic, and an instinctive defensive lineman, with a knack of getting into opposing backfields. His loose hips and length serve him well getting inside short areas. When positioned in 5-tech, he has a strong first step and does a great job countering inside if the opportunity presents itself. Possesses excellent closing speed, able to run down ball carriers from behind and make plays in the backfield. Active hands, he employs a reasonable variety of hand fighting techniques to win battles in the trenches. High motor, Gross-Matos has earned many of his sacks out of sheer hustle and persistence.

Weaknesses:

When engaging with opposing blockers, he has a habit of standing up, which results in him losing leverage. His issues with pad level, makes him susceptible to losing one-on-one battles; in cases where he was double teamed, he would generally be pushed backwards due to his inability to establish a lower base. From a technical standpoint, he lacks a pass rush plan when his initial attempt fails. Lacks the bend and flexibility to be an effective pass rusher from the outside, often gets pushed off the arc in his attempts. Some noted issues disengaging from opposing blockers, resulting in missed opportunities to make plays.
