Player Description:

Name: Jeffrey Okudah

Position: Cornerback

College: Ohio State

Uniform Number: #1

Class: Junior

Height: 6'1

Weight: 200 lbs

Strengths:

Okudah is an instinctive defender, who possesses a seamless combination of athleticism and high football acumen. What defines Okudah is his ability to consistently make plays practically anywhere on the field. Though he primarily played zone, he is an excellent press defender. When matched up one-on-one, he rarely allows a receiver to win leverage, does a superb job at flipping his hips and using his speed to shadow effectively shadowing. Excellent at using physicality to prevent receivers from winning leverage outside or inside the stem, and deflecting passes which comes his direction. As a zone corner, he possesses excellent recognition skills, knows when to pass on coverage and support the run if necessary. As a tackler, he is aggressive and does a good job keeping a low pad level. Has excellent range, able break from his position and make plays from far distances.

Weaknesses:

Despite the improvements he has made in this regard, there are still some concerns with his ability to break away from blocks, in order to support the run. Against bigger receivers, Okudah is still susceptible to losing leverage outside, and on 50/50 balls. At the line of scrimmage, some improvement is needed for initiating contact in press to better dictate tempo.
