Player Description:

Name: Jeff Gladney

Position: Cornerback

College: Texas Christian University

Uniform Number: #12

Class: Senior

Height: 6'0

Weight: 183 lbs

Strengths:

A Hard-hitting and instinctive defender, with great ball skills. On the outside, Gladney possesses the desired speed to comfortably keep stride with receivers on vertical routes. In press coverage, he stays square and is keen at reading an opposing receiver's hip/abdomen area in order to anticipate any double moves. His feet are constantly moving and he is excellent in his transitions from backpedal on in-breaking routes. On vertical routes, he does a good job winning leverage outside, and is rarely stacked. Gladney is a willing and aggressive tackler, who is technically sound. He is adept at hitting through, while making contact with his shoulder pads.

Weaknesses:

In zone coverage, Gladney tends to be slower at anticipating routes, in contrast to man coverage. In press coverage, Gladney could benefit from being more active with his hands, specifically to jam receivers at the line. Though he has the desired speed on vertical routes, his speed does have limitation, which is often exposed against faster receivers. Success on jump balls against bigger receivers is questionable due to a slight deficit in size.
